Yesterday, I merged our largest breaking change for TanStack Hotkeys during our alpha period. The useHotkeySequence, useHotkeySequences, and useHotkeySequenceRecorder hooks are removed. The normal useHotkey hooks just accept sequences now. This makes it much easier to let sequence bindings live among the rest of your hotkeys without having to add special code and considerations just for them.

Having a pretty fun time with Opus this weekend My (experimental) /chief-of-staff skill is trying to replace OBS with a homebrew video recorder. So it's running a side-by-side latency comparison where it has asked me to: 1. Download a video it made itself to my phone 2. Prop it up and show it to my camera 3. Point my microphone at it 4. Simultaneously record my screen and play sounds 5. Check all available inputs for latency 6. Compare against OBS and my own setup Truly bonkers levels of verification and I freaking love it, I would never be this thorough if I were developing this myself

We can finally say MSW fully supports mocking GraphQL. Queries, mutations, and now subscriptions, all within the same familiar and powerful API. The best part is that it doesn't exist in a vacuum. Simultaneously, you can describe HTTP and WebSocket connections alongside GQL.

Instructions are a last resort. Want to enforce a coding standard? Configure or create linting rules. Want to avoid the LLM copying an existing anti-pattern? Refactor the bad pattern and make it a build error if it happens again. Want to explain a confusing or insistent design? Fix the design and be consistent (it’s easier than ever with AI!) Want to run a process after each file edit or when the model stops? Use a hook. Want to describe a process like opening a PR or doing a code review? Create a skill. Instructions are rarely the best option. They’re “soft”. They bloat context. They’re often ignored. And they often paper over problems. Fix the root causes. Use deterministic tools. Each time I see the agent make a mistake I ask, “how can I make this mistake impossible?” Instructions are just a suggestion. The techniques above create *certainty*. That’s why instructions are a last resort.

Today's hot take: Agents are actually really good at strategic programming It's just they aren't RL'd to actually care about it "Just do the task at hand, don't do anything else" So all you need to do is to tell your agent to care about its own codebase. But the truth is that most people actually don't care that much about the codebase, as long as the code works. This needs to change. Care about the code, and tell your agent to.

Integrating MSW into Vite-based projects has become silly simple with the new "msw/vite" plugin! And yes, this works with Vitest, too. The plugin integrates MSW client and server-side and keeps the worker script up-to-date for you, automatically.

just tell the model what to do, dont tell it how to think, operate, or coordinate other subagents. Just give it tools , context, instructions. Want a workflow? tell it to dynamically make one.

a weird inversion with LLMs is the models improve faster than the tinkerers when i see people with custom workflows and setups they're all addressing problems that don't exist anymore the person naively using vanilla codex is more likely to be experiencing state of the art
