@mitsuhiko Can’t have public transit without high(er) urban density. Something I keep wondering about is how many of those trips could actually be done via "light mobility", bikes, e-bikes, anything electric on wheels that one can lift really. I wish adoption could go much higher on those.

Their non rack-formatted cloud gateways do have hardware acceleration for PPPoE but then lack PoE & 3.5” HDD slot for the NVR.

I wish I had known sooner that all of @Ubiquiti’s UDM line doesn’t have hardware acceleration on PPPoE and barely achieve 1Gbps over those links on the older SoCs.

I finally was able to compile and build a real iOS app from Linux, using @bazelbuild and distributed Linux workers. I used @Dimillian's IceCube app, got Codex to modularize it to allow parallel Swift compile actions, and let it loose on 100s of cheap remote Linux workers!

@shazow I'm not sure we are gonna retrofit many homes and redo the distribution part of the grid in 15 years. Weather dependent generation being SOL on weather won't affect one or two people but a whole region, batteries get very expensive for those rare cases.

@shazow @Alykkat And then the question comes back to what it is the best "utility" format to manage the grid. I lean towards something quite centralized with long term planning. I am not defending PG&E per say, I believe breaking it up is a step in the wrong direction.

@shazow @Tpsmyth01 @Alykkat Nothing would have beaten going electro-nuclear 50 years ago, but CA is ahead in the US when it comes to decarbonizing its electricity and, as far as I'm concerned I am to pay for that every single day rather than being on Coal & Gas.
