@David_M_Giles Popular for sure. Believe it had millions of sales before the series. Then obviously even more after. (Also, just saw the typo in the chart, and black is just originals.) And happy to discuss/debate! But yeah, I think Michael Jackson was "popular IP".
I can’t look at this chart of all the films from 2021-2026, based on whether they’re based on IP or Not, and come to the conclusion that audiences don’t like IP. And this chart predates The Odyssey and Spider-Man 4!
@David_M_Giles It's still based on a book, comic book or video game, but not a top tier property. For example, Project Hail Mary is, I believe, the best selling science fiction book this decade, so it was popular. There are plenty of other sci fi books that could be adapated, but aren't popular
