Radeon RX 6000 players, we've heard you: FSR 4.1 is on the way. 🎮 It’s also coming to APUs for the first time and to Xbox, bringing FSR to even more ways to play. Get the full update from Jack Huynh below.

As a lifelong gamer, I think deeply about how to make gaming better and more accessible for everyone across consoles, desktops, laptops, handhelds, and the developers who build the games. We power over a billion gaming devices around the world. It’s a responsibility we care

This is something that is important to note in all the new "recompiled" games coming out. Many of them, as noted here, are still using emulated, translated graphics backends, and are not in fact a full decompile/recompile. It's like if a game company released a "native" linux build using WINE as a wrapper (a-la witcher 2). Sure, they are more convenient than setting up an emulator, but under the hood they are still emulating the graphics instead of natively rendering them. I say this because I understand the work that goes into actually decompile/recompiling/building your own graphics backend instead of using an emulator to translate it. Sure, I also promote using AI as an effective tool for working on this, but I think if decompiles/recompiles are going to be made, they need to be full, legitimate decompiles, not using translation layers, as that's where you can really crank out performance gains and other features and optimizations. I've been working on my gears of war 3 recompile for what seems like weeks if not months now simply because I am doing a full graphics backend recompile, NOT using xenia's xb360 graphics translator, and even I didn't start that from scratch, I used the SonicDE decompiled gpu backend as a base: x.com/GloriousEggrol… Even now I'm still trying to fix a few fps drops during combat, but otherwise the framerate has massively improved due to putting in the time to try to fix it via decompiled/recompiled code, rather than just relying on xenia's translator and calling it a day. This is the current WIP result I have, which is more than playable but still needs some fixing on those drops. Mind you it's also upscaled to 4k, no FSR:

I have been seeing an influx of "Native" PC ports of PS4 games recently. However, they aren't what they seem, and because of that, I would avoid them on the #SteamDeck: steamdeckhq.com/the-truth-behi…

AMD sent another round of HDMI 2.1 fixes for its Linux GPU driver ahead of Linux 7.4. -Avoids FRL polling when the link is down -Fixes a potential display-not-lighting-after-hotplug issue -Adjusts HDMI 2.1 link-training timeouts -Serializes FRL polling against link detection Linux 7.4 is expected to enable AMD HDMI 2.1 by default with FreeSync/VRR + ALLM.

AMD introduced a generative method for calculating real-time global illumination at the ECCV event. Rather than simply refining standard ray tracing, this technology replaces hardware bounces entirely with a single-step latent diffusion model. The system processes direct light data and synthesizes indirect lighting instantly. By avoiding complex mathematical path intersections, it calculates global illumination approximately 3 to 5 times faster than traditional brute-force path tracing. Optimized for FP8 operations on RDNA 4 graphics hardware, this approach delivers smooth frame rates, eliminates dynamic flickering, and preserves the original artistic vision without heavy performance penalties. #AMD #Radeon #RayTracing #Hardware #PathTracing #NeuralRendering #GPUOpen
