@MarketingMax Same on the paid side. The B2B teams that keep their ad budget in Q1 bring finance cost per qualified meeting by channel, not cost per lead. Walk in with that number before the budgets lock and you're defending a line item instead of hoping it survives.
@MarketingMax The highest are always urgent local terms. Someone searching "emergency plumber near me" at 11pm converts like crazy when the page opens with a phone number and "we can be there in an hour". Intent does most of the work, the page just has to stay out of the way.
Most "bad ROAS" problems I see aren't ad problems.
They're:
A landing page that takes 6 seconds to load
A price with no reason to buy today
A checkout that forces an account
Fix those first. Then judge the ads.
@EliXPampa A lot of bad revenue gets bought in the ads. If the creative promises fast and easy, you attract people who expect fast and easy. Put the work required right in the ad and on the page. Fewer leads, but the ones who buy already agreed to do the work.
@mrfeldmanSEM Cheap insurance most brands skip: a backup Business Manager with a verified ad account that spends a little every week, so it has history if you ever need it. And keep your customer list and purchase data exported, so a new account doesn't start blind.
@ecomchasedimond The one that catches brands in Q4: spam rate creeping toward 0.3% in Postmaster Tools. Safe zone is under 0.1%. Big sale blasts to old unengaged profiles are what push them over, right when inbox placement matters most. Warm the list up now, not on Thanksgiving.
@Samuelseye1000@williamkast_ No fixed number. Compare to your own 7 day average, and a 20 to 30% jump is worth a look. If CPM and CPC rise together while CTR holds, it's usually the auction: Q4 competition, a narrow audience, or frequency climbing. Check frequency first, it's the quickest tell.
@benradack Seen this a lot with Advantage+. Easy fix: define your existing customers in account settings, then cap their share of spend. Watch NC ROAS for a week. Blended usually dips at first, but the new customer number is the one that tells you if you can scale.
@Samuelseye1000@williamkast_ CTR first. It tells you if the ad earns the click. CPC moves with auction pressure and CPMs, so it can climb even when the ad is fine. If CTR holds and CPC rises, check CPMs and audience overlap before you touch the creative.
@lorenzo_pravata The 3 out of 100 stat is the real lesson. Top accounts barely spend trying to educate people who don't know they have the problem. They win by being the clearest answer for people already looking. Words on screen in the first second do that faster than any hook.
@uzipagirsky The bubble pops for the ones who never track month 3 retention. A 0.8 NC target is fine if subscribers stick past the third box. If churn spikes after the intro discount, they're buying revenue at a loss and the ad account just hides it for a few months.
@nicktheriot_ The order is the smart part. Most supplement ads open with the discount and answer the price doubt before the buyer believes it works. Proof first makes the price feel fair, not cheap. Tip: pull the "biggest doubt" straight from your 1 star reviews.
@AaronOrendorff@mbertulli@codyplof@linafahizul@jordanmenard "Built for orders 2, 3, 4" is the one most brands skip. A heavy first order discount often trains customers to wait for the next sale. A gift with purchase or a bundle usually wins the first order and protects repeat margin.
@ecomchasedimond Same check works for the ads. If the ad promises 30% and the page greets them with a 10% popup, that mismatch shows up as a CPA spike everyone blames on Meta. Click your own ads on sale morning before raising any budgets.
@codyschneider I'd add brand exclusions to that list. Without them PMax happily claims your branded searches, so ROAS looks great while new customer growth stays flat. Checking how much of PMax revenue comes from brand terms is usually the first eye opener.
Black Friday is 39 days away.
If your new ads aren't in testing by early November, you're launching untested creative into the most expensive week of the year.
@adamtaylorl Sort by comments too, not just upvotes. The threads where people argue show the real objections, and the exact words they use to push back make some of the best hooks you'll ever write.
@itsalexvacca The review count floor and ceiling is the smartest filter here. One more signal worth adding: whether they already run Google Ads. A business paying for clicks already budgets for growth, and you can spot the gaps in their ads before reaching out.
