B2B stablecoin payments: around $226 billion annually, up 733% year over year. That's the macro trend. Japan to the Philippines is one corridor inside it, and the settlement layer underneath is still mostly manual.

Japan’s three largest banks just completed a joint yen stablecoin pilot for cross-border corporate payments, under FSA supervision. Worth reading the detail. The token is yen-denominated, and the pilot moved money between one company’s Japan office and its overseas offices. That solves the issuance leg. The recipient still needs local currency at the other end. That last leg is the one we’re building.

LATEST: 🇯🇵 Japanese megabanks SMBC, Mizuho, and MUFG completed a proof-of-concept for jointly issuing a yen stablecoin and using it for cross-border payments.

@LFGCAPO No cards in the model, so there’s no processor ledger to reconcile against. B2B corridor, one direction: yen in, pesos out to a bank or wallet. Idempotency is designed in but not stress-tested yet. That’s on the list. Fair question to ask though.

If you've shipped a stablecoin payment product, what broke first in production that testing never surfaced? Asking before we find out the hard way.

80% of remittances to Latin America used to start as physical cash in a store. Félix Pago rebuilt that flow as a WhatsApp conversation, with stablecoins doing the moving in the background, invisible to the user. Same principle behind what we’re building: the chain should never be the thing the client sees.

Corpay moves money across 200 countries in 145 currencies. Their take on what stablecoins actually fix for B2B: not the cost, the 24/7 availability. Same thing we’re building toward, a corridor that doesn’t wait for banking hours.

Stablecoin payroll and cross-border settlement aren't a thesis anymore, they're shipping. Deel went live with stablecoin wallets across 80 markets this year. Bitso runs $80B a year in cross-border volume, betting on local-currency stablecoins for the same reason we are. Different corridors. Same shift, happening everywhere, including ours.

Attended Superteam Japan's Pitch MasterClass. Sofian Meguellati on what actually makes a hackathon pitch land. One thing sticking with me: don't leave the deck for the last minute. Rehearse the pitch video enough times that it comes out natural, not memorized. @SuperteamJapan @depitchsofian

Different corridor than ours (Hong Kong to Singapore), same underlying problem we're working on for Japan to the Philippines: the settlement layer, not the wallet, is where the friction lives.

New episode of Bits to Bricks with @amiravalliani @darenguo, co-founder of @reapglobal, talks about how they originally set out to digitize the cross-border payments in Hong Kong and Singapore, and stablecoins became a necessity for that idea. Check out the full episode 👇

Japan to the Philippines moves billions a year in cross-border payments, most of it through banking rails that are slow and manual. We're building PHP Settlement Layer: B2B infrastructure for that corridor, on Solana. Public build log starts here. Devnet deployment, test
