@herrmanndigital I had an ad spend $300 in a day and the link CPC said “$86”, until I realized the ad had about 200 clicks and the math just wasn’t right… unbelievable
@mikeryanretail @mikeryanretail - It was mostly meant as a joke, but you did indeed specialize in it and talked about it shortcomings too.
I think the main question to ask is “why are CPMs high?” And then reverse engineer from there. My take is that your final auction ranking is an output of bid x estimated action rate x ad quality. You don’t have an estimated action rate yet so you win auctions by paying top price. So, our best tactic to combat this is old school whitelisting (add the whitelisted pages to your BM), create an audience of all page engagers and target these people. That and hyper-native ad formats such as editorial statics.
