My reply: “Supply chain or technically challenged security is a huge issue within current cold storage solutions.” Link to PureWallet as the offline ISO alternative. Purewallet.ai 3. 6 Jan 2026 Explicit post: “In a world where hardware wallets like Ledger continue to face security nightmares from the 2023 Connect Kit exploit that drained over $600K to the latest third-party payment processor breach exposing customer data just this week it’s time to rethink ‘secure’ cold storage.” Called out firmware flaws, phishing, data leaks, and supply-chain hacks. PureWallet = gas-free offline, air-gapped, no extra hardware. 4. 26 Mar 2026 Long comparison: Ledger, Trezor, Tangem require separate physical devices → lose, damage, or supply-chain risk. PureWallet isolates keys on the phone you already carry. True offline P2P via QR/Bluetooth/NFC. ISO 27001/27003. Hardware still needs a live connection to spend in many cases. We don’t. 5. 1 Aug 2026 (days after Coldcard drains began 30 July) Scoreboard post: • Coldcard / Coinkite — $38M+ (later $100M+) from 5-year-old RNG/firmware entropy flaw. Seeds weakened since 2021. • Tangem: unpatchable laser fault-injection. • Trust Wallet: supply-chain extension compromise. • Ledger: repeated customer data breaches + Recover controversy. These are structural, not isolated bugs. 6. 3 Aug 2026 Full thread: Hardware (Ledger, Trezor, Coldcard) still carries: • Firmware entropy failures that sit for years • Physical fault-injection & laser attacks • Customer data breaches that turn users into phishing targets • Extra hardware + still need online path to broadcast PureWallet removes the trade-off. ISO 27001/27003. No second device. 8. 31 Aug 2026 “Hardware wallets spent August leaking names. Trezor’s fulfilment partner exposed 14,000 customers. Ledger already had the list. Tangem’s card is unpatchable. Trust Wallet’s extension got drained. And you’re still waiting on a plastic brick in the mail.” 9. What unfolded after • coldcard RNG flaw (firmware from March 2021) → drains starting late July 2026, eventually ~1,800+ BTC (~$100M+ range) from thousands of addresses. • Ledger CryptoBilis reseller (SE Asia) → Oct 9, 2026: $86–93M+ drained from hundreds of wallets. Suspected supply-chain tampering (hidden implant reports by Karpelès). Ledger systems not breached. • Ongoing data leaks, phishing via official channels, kernel-level device risks (I covered kernel exploits on Spaces months earlier). 10. CZ’s post-incident advice (quarantine new wallets 2 weeks, diversify, stay informed) is correct for the current hardware model. It does not remove the attack surface: supply chain, firmware that can sit broken for years, physical devices, screen/USB side-channels, and the need to go online to spend. 11. Recent hardware wallet supply chain security concerns are making us rethink how crypto assets should be protected. Does secure crypto storage really require another dedicated hardware device? Using a hardware wallet also means introducing another device whose manufacturing, distribution, and handling process must be trusted. Pure Vault takes a different approach.
