Top 3 Emerging Keywords of the Week 🔥 OpenAI drops a new name, Elon gets dragged into the domain drama, and Trump gives AI a rebrand. Domain registrants apparently didn’t need much time to react. 👀 🥇 dots (281 ⇢ 407) OpenAI unveiled its new AI assistants, “Dots,” and the internet quickly noticed that Dot.com points to Elon Musk’s Grok Bot. One missing “s,” a very different destination. The launch buzz likely helped send this week’s #1 keyword climbing. 🥈 superintelligence (456 ⇢ 575) Trump wants AI called “Super Intelligence,” and signed an executive order making it the terminology for the executive branch. A presidential rebrand is quite a publicity boost. Domain registrants seem to have taken notice. 🥉 si (356 ⇢ 471) Naturally, the shorter version joined the party. Trump’s AI-to-SI switch likely helped fuel interest in these two letters too. Why register 17 letters when two will do? 😉 We’ve watched this pattern at dotDB for years: a headline lands, a keyword catches fire, and domain registrations follow. The real test comes later: which names survive the hype? 🔥 dotdb.com/emerging-keywo…

Shop.com reportedly sold for $100 million. If confirmed, it would set a new record for the highest domain-only sale in history. Why such a massive price tag? The answer is in the data. 👇 #dotDB #DomainNames

The news has finally broke that @Shopify has acquired the Shop.com domain name! I learned about this deal several months ago at a very interesting cocktail party. While I was not involved in the transaction, and because nobody directly involved is my source, I am

Finally, Karts.com is live! 🏎️ I still can’t quite believe I built a 3D kart racing game. Come give it a try! 😄 I created the characters with Nano Banana and ChatGPT, turned them into 3D models with Tripo3D, built the tracks with Claude Opus 5.5 and Blender, and brought it all together in Three.js. Thirteen of the 20 cities are places I’ve visited. I poured my memories of them into the tracks, and I hope you’ll enjoy the scenery as much as the racing. #GameDev #ThreeJS

One of dotDB’s most underrated features is Keyword Insights. 🔍 It gives you a detailed breakdown of monthly search volume by country, revealing where people are actually searching for a particular keyword. Take “Southeast Asia” as an example. Google Trends offers a similar geographic breakdown, but there’s an important difference: its rankings are based on relative search interest, not absolute search volume. Google Trends ranks Brunei #1 for “Southeast Asia”. Does that mean Brunei generates the most searches for this term? Not at all. With a population of just around 470,000, Brunei ranks first because searches for “Southeast Asia” account for a relatively high proportion of its total searches. Now look at the same keyword through dotDB Keyword Insights: 🌎 Worldwide: 301,000 monthly searches 🇺🇸 United States: 74,000 🇵🇭 Philippines: 49,500 🇮🇳 India: 22,200 🇬🇧 United Kingdom: 18,100 🇦🇺 Australia: 14,800 Suddenly, you get a very different picture of where the actual search demand comes from. Google Trends is useful for understanding relative interest, but when you're deciding which markets to target, where to build your next website, or which domains might have commercial potential, actual search volume tells a different story. Sometimes, the most valuable insights are hiding in features you haven't explored yet. 👀 👉 dotdb.com/insights

✨ New small feature, big convenience for some users. dotDB now supports Custom Extension Priority Order in your Search Preferences. By default, extensions in search results are ordered based on the number of registered domains in each extension. But we know some users may prefer to see specific extensions first — such as .ai, .io, .si, or any other extensions important to their workflow. You can now set your own preferred extension order, and dotDB will show those extensions first in your search results. Find it under: Account → Search Preference → Extension Priority Order A small update, but hopefully a useful one.

A surprising trend popped up in this week’s dotDB data: the extension with the biggest registration growth is .makeup💄 👉 dotdb.com/statistics It jumped by +40,520 domains and topped our “Most Increased Extensions” list this week. One possible reason? Dynadot and Spaceship are currently running very aggressive promos for .makeup (under $2 per registration). That kind of pricing can easily trigger a registration wave. Did you register any .makeup domains lately? Drop a comment and share what you picked up 👇 #dotDB #DomainTrends #Domains #gTLD #DomainInvesting

Free Tip (cost money though) Everyone should download the top 30000 and then manually clean and categorize the list. That is a free masterclass in domaining if you can complete that assignment It is not free though, but a better value than any bad hand reg or some ebook

Over the past week, we observed a surge in ChatGPT Atlas–related domain registrations. The exact match chatgptatlas now appears in 301+ domain extensions. Interestingly, chatgptatlas.com was registered on Oct 20, 2025 — just one day before OpenAI officially announced its ChatGPT Atlas browser on Oct 21. Most of the other registrations occurred on the announcement day itself, and the majority were registered by OpenAI, likely for brand protection purposes. All of these domains currently redirect to the official ChatGPT Atlas website — showing how seriously OpenAI takes brand protection. 🧠🌐 #dotDB #OpenAI #ChatGPTAtlas #domains
