IMO English and Mandarin Chinese are the only languages you should learn as a second language tbh. Spanish at a push.

What’s it like being a European? Well, here’s a Welsh speaker happily doing an interview in English which she then translates live into French for a Basque who just conversed with an Italian referee for 80 minutes in English but is happy to be spoken to in his language by a

@chealy26 @markgurman They also need to keep a few back - always - for issues, DOA exchanges and yes, probably some for those who do line up if they can. They will defo prioritize pre-orders that have been reserved for pickup etc over walk ins though

Retail stores I've talked to are still sorting through the number of units they are expecting to receive by next Friday versus how many have been allocated for pre-orders. So any ruling on inventory for non-pre order customers is premature.

There's been zero communication to Apple retail stores saying this. Perhaps a manager at select stores told employees this, but nothing like this has been communicated to date. I'm not saying it won't happen, but it hasn't.

Vibe coded my parents' TV this afternoon! It was showing a sponsored ad before you could even get to Netflix. Gave Claude Code the model number, it found the TV on wifi, removed 25 Xiaomi packages and wrote a new launcher. Looks like an Apple TV now lol

@AdamJMatlock @trentonstech Honestly I'd check carriers as well. There was loads of day one availability for several hours and tmo has one for November still.

@DonBraugh414 @mweinbach @WorkaholicDavid @AnxiousHolly Oh yeah there's always going to be scalpers and some humans who've just told their agent to go buy it. That's just the world we live in!

IT cell people need to grow some brain cells first. MagTapp: On Android, browsers are typically built on Chromium or Android WebView, which is also Chromium. Chromium is Google's open-source browser engine, the same core as Chrome. Vaarta: Modern messaging apps commonly use open protocols and Firebase for push. The app sits on Android and most likely on US cloud hosting. Paytm: The UPI rails are fully Indian, run by NPCI. Paytm itself has run major workloads on AWS. The Android app also uses Google's security and Play Integrity services. DataMail: This is one of the more independent ones. Email runs on open global standards, not American ones. Its main US dependence is Android and Google push. Daakia: Browser and app video calling is usually built on WebRTC, an open-source technology Google created and released. Nyburs: Hyperlocal apps commonly use Google Maps or Places APIs for location and addresses. That is likely here unless they use Mappls. Namaste Indian: This one shows ads, so it most likely uses AdMob. American. Tepnot Live: Live streaming apps usually license a real-time video SDK, such as Agora or Zego, or they build on WebRTC. Agora is US-listed, though its roots are Chinese. BharatGPT (Immverse): This is the most likely to be "American inside." Most Indian chatbot apps either call OpenAI or Google Gemini APIs, or fine-tune Meta's Llama models. All three are American. Training also almost always runs on Nvidia GPUs. AllVideo: Android video players typically use Google's ExoPlayer (Media3) library. They also usually rely on FFmpeg, which is open source and not American. Gaana: It likely uses ExoPlayer on Android. Its international catalog is licensed from labels including Warner Music, which is American, and Sony and Universal, which have large US operations. Have some shame.

@mweinbach @DonBraugh414 @WorkaholicDavid @AnxiousHolly Spoke to numerous carriers. Folks I was talking to had been there for years and spoken to so many people placing orders. This wasn't just scalpers, the demand and hype is real. Anyone dismissing this is somewhat like the blackberry founders dismissing the original iPhone

@StephenMaruko @XPh03n @mehtababd Amex charge cards do have spending limits. I've had this happen once - called them, they quickly reinstated my previous limit. Best I can get is that the system will sometimes do that after a large transaction even if you've never missed a payment etc.

@LegendaryScoop @markgurman Yeah tmo is the most reliable carrier for sure. They always try to deliver early - happens sometimes with Samsung, never with Apple but they have this down to a science.

This rumor started just like it does every year... with overheating claims during Snapdragon Summit. Except phones are already out with this chip and there are no reports.
