Today I'm investigating Linux namespaces, the feature that makes one machine look like several and it is a fundamental part of the containers technology. You can run `sudo unshare --uts bash`, change the hostname in there, and a second terminal still sees the old one. Same machine, same kernel, same gethostname() call, two different answers.
