@VladTheInflator This was the 0-60 one (close to production version). The one that flew is a single seat as it needs a bigger tank. It's a show car. The real thing with rockers that most people buy is this one.

I think he is right, you will not get one that did the show. But you will get one that does the 0-60 in under a second. The one in the show was mostly air tank, it needed extra tank that takes up the passenger seat. But you don't want that one anyway. Too much of a compromise for 3 sec of flight. Insane engineering. 🤯

When I was writing Unreal Engine 1, my time was divided as follows: - Around 30% went to seriously deep coding on hard problems: assembly language texture mappers, C++ BSP trees, data persistence, object oriented systems design, and networking. - Around 70% was just typing and refactoring large bodies of code needed for a complete engine feature set. This was not hard, and while I was doing it my mind was mostly on the deeper coding topics, thinking and planning for what's next. It didn't feel much different from vibe coding today, except that it was just me typing code on an IBM Model M keyboard rather than prompting it and reviewing the results. So, it has always seemed perfectly logical that we would rely on AI for that 70%, once the AI could do it with a similar quality standard as we could, which has never been perfection. It came as no surprise that, after a few years of AI model evolution, it was able to take the reigns on that 70% and free up programmers' time for more valuable tasks. What's more of a surprise is the emergence of AI as a sort of insta-Carmack able to solve hard technical problems quite cleverly and often cleanly, and that it's able to reason about and work in complex 3D scenes both by operating the tools and by directly understanding the raw data files. I abandoned assembly language in 1998 when out-of-order CPUs made much simpler C/C++ code faster, and never I missed it. If prompting through architectural documents, concept art, and design plans can transcend typing code and tweaking vertices, that will enable developers to spend their time on higher-level, higher value technical and creative tasks. What matters is the end product, whether it's a game or an engine. Anything developers can do to try out more ideas and make better software and games faster is a win for everyone.

The substance is it will beat every track record on the planet. This show is just a side effect of the engineering needed to meet that goal. You talk of substance but obviously haven't seen the treasure trove of engineering video behind the show. You don't see it because you do not look.

@Frederik_VP My guess would be that the production version will only have the rear thrusters for insane launch 0-60. All versions will have the suction fans, which will be enough. Not sure I want a pressure vessel 10 cm away from my head. The non rocket pack would be the one to get!

I don't think the production car will let you do stuff like the demo, but it will be close to being able to. Doing the maths you only have about 2-3seconds of air to do the jumps. However, on the track that will mean enough to do a full session while being on rails. After which your human body will need a rest while it recharges.

Pretty sure that this prototype will have a oversized pressure vessel compared to the production version. So you not going to be flying all over the place like this, BUT it's going to be unstoppable on the track, which is it's design goal. What an amazing feat of engineering. 🤯

SpaceX has used thrusters to position spacecraft for decades. Making them work in a vehicle instead of a vacuum took all-new hardware & controls. Every usable void in the car is packed with Carbon Fiber Overwrapped Pressure Vessels (COPVs) More compressed gas on board = more flight time
