Many stories have a very heavy moralistic component and are quite heavy handed At least this one has a very pro-social element and isn't super useless like most of the AI short dramas.

Wow, I've met a ton of startup founders who want to get into this space of gathering more context for your AI (all your non-digital interactions), and many of them are doing some kind of recording or note-taking device. I've just done an interview on this and also recently ran into a few Chinese founders and VCs in the Bay, and we discussed this in depth. At least as far as commercializing AI goes, there really is no market like the US. Both the investment capital available and customers' ability to pay. We are so much bigger. It's not even funny.

I don't understand this comment at all. They said the same thing about radio and TV. Life does not guarantee you happiness. The whole point of parenting is that you're supposed to guide your kids as much as possible and help them gain the wisdom through which, hopefully, they can live a self-actualized life. Don't blame it on technology.
I was just listening to a podcast featuring @AndrewYNg (by someone called Silicon Valley Girl) and he made the GREAT point that it's so exciting to be a kid today, and that it is so unfortunate that there is so much doom and gloom about, especially around AI, giving these kids so much anxiety when they have so much cool tech they can leverage to learn and accomplish whatever it is they want. The future is truly so bright. Instead, they are being told they will be replaced (or worse, actually killed by AI) and everything is hopeless and they shouldn't bother acquiring any skills. "And frankly, making people give up is one of the worst things we've been doing in this era when people that lean in will thrive." 💯 Of course he also said that we should be thoughtful about how to apply AI to learning, as even in his personal experience, when we use AI to REPLACE thinking, to engage in "cognitive offloading" it actually results in much worse retention.
